The Richest Moments Cost the Least

This weekend, I was reminded that some of life's richest moments don't come with the biggest price tag.
It's the school holidays, and my daughter kept insisting on a mother-and-daughter day. I loved the idea, but almost immediately my mind went somewhere familiar.
How much is this going to cost?
I started calculating.
Activities. Outings. Lunches. Entertainment.
Before we'd done a single thing, I'd already convinced myself that creating a meaningful day together would require more money than I felt comfortable spending.
The truth is that finances haven't quite "financed" yet. And if I'm honest, that brought a little anxiety with it.
Eventually, I stopped overthinking and simply said yes.
What happened next humbled me.
Our day began with our own homemade breakfast. Nothing extravagant. Just a shared "health" bagel with avocado and scrambled eggs.
Then we wandered into the kitchen.
We baked biscuits.
Well... I baked biscuits once the dough was ready.
She happily played with it for what felt like forever while I made another batch of oat biscuits. We rolled, we shaped, we laughed, and eventually we cleaned the kitchen together.
Afterwards, we curled up on the couch with tea, warm biscuits and a few episodes of Young Sheldon.
There was laughter.
The kind that sneaks up on you.
The kind that reminds you you're completely present.
We finished off our little mother-and-daughter weekend by washing our braids and doing our nails - something she absolutely loves.
No salon.
No fancy treatments.
Just the two of us.
As I watched her this weekend, I was reminded of how beautifully creative children are.
Give them dough and they'll happily create for hours.
Give them your attention and they feel like they've been given the world.
Somewhere between the biscuits and the laughter, I realised the day I'd worried might be expensive had cost very little.
Yet it felt rich in all the ways that matter.
Perhaps children don't remember what we spend on them nearly as much as they remember how they felt with us.
Seen.
Included.
Loved.
Important.
Sometimes the Hidden Score™ of a beautiful life isn't found in extraordinary moments.
It's quietly written into the ordinary ones we almost overlooked.
Wishing you a Sunday filled with the kind of moments money could never buy. 🤍

Happy Sunday to you and your beautiful family. Now let me go do something simple but special with my family❤️
