What If We Celebrated Anyway?

Sometimes, you don't realise you've arrived until you look back.

This photo reminds me of the 8-year-old girl who used to dream big dreams. I don't remember everything about her journey, but I remember this part of her - dreamer. And I never want to let go!

There are moments in life that look completely ordinary from the outside.

An ordinary morning. An ordinary conversation. An ordinary Wednesday.

And yet, something inside you shifts.

I had one of those moments recently.

I found myself doing something that, years ago, I used to imagine myself doing.

Back then, it was just a little dream.

I would pretend I was being interviewed. I imagined someone asking me questions. I imagined having something worth saying.

I didn't know exactly what that life would look like.

I just knew there was a voice inside me that wanted to be heard.

Years later, I found myself sitting in that moment.

And what surprised me wasn't that I was there.

It was how peaceful I felt being there.

There was a time when I would have been consumed with getting everything right.

Did I say enough? Did I explain it properly? Did people understand me? Was I good enough?

This time, I wasn't performing.

I was simply present.

And that made me wonder:

Maybe growth isn't always about becoming more polished. Maybe sometimes, it's about needing to perform less.

About trusting that what you've lived, what you've learned, what you've become - and even what you are still becoming - is enough for the moment you're standing in.

And then came the emotion.

Because sometimes a dream takes so long to unfold that when it finally does, your heart needs a little time to catch up.

You look around and realise...

The little girl who once imagined it is now the woman living it. Even if its just a little!

Maybe that's why some moments move us so deeply.

Not because they are spectacular.

But because they quietly remind us:

You didn't get here overnight.

You have been becoming this person for years.

And as I sit with that, I don't want to rush past it.

I want to notice more of these moments.

To be present enough to feel them. Open enough to receive them. Brave enough to live through them.

Because perhaps there are still dreams unfolding that I cannot see yet.

Still moments waiting to surprise me. Still versions of me waiting to emerge.

So, as I move towards another birthday, perhaps this is my quiet celebration:

Not just of how far I've come.

But of the woman standing here now...and of the life I am still open to becoming.

What if we spent a little less time rushing towards the next thing...

and a little more time recognising when we are already living something we once wished for?
