Don't judge your progress by what is visible today

Some of the most meaningful things we build begin long before anyone else can see them.

As I watch the Comrades Marathon today, I'm reminded that race day is only the visible part of the journey.

What we see today are runners crossing finish lines.

What we don't see are the months of preparation that made today possible.

The early mornings.

The commitment.

The setbacks.

The discipline to keep going when nobody was watching.

The same is true beyond running.

Sometimes the finish line is a framework.

A business.

A dream.

A new way of helping people.

For a while, it can feel like you're carrying something invisible.

Progress looks slow.

Results seem small.

The world carries on as if nothing is happening.

But beneath the surface, foundations are being laid.

Years ago, I dreamed of running Comrades myself.

I dreamed of building a wellness emporium.

I dreamed of playing the guitar.

I dreamed of creating something meaningful.

Some of those dreams evolved.

Some were left behind.

Watching the runners today, I realised something unexpected.

I no longer have the desire to run Comrades.

But I still recognise the part of me that once wanted to.

The dream may change.

The person willing to dream does not.

The desire to create, build, contribute and leave something meaningful behind has always been there.

Today, that energy is finding a different expression.

Through coaching.

Through writing.

Through The Recovery Hub.

Through what is slowly becoming The Hidden Score™.

And if Comrades teaches us anything, it's that meaningful things are rarely built on race day.

They're built in the quiet moments long before the crowd arrives.

Before the recognition.

Before the finish line.

Before anyone else can see who you're becoming.

Perhaps that's where many of us are today.

Not at the finish line. Not even close.

Simply doing the training required for the future we're trying to create.

Not every season is a season of harvest.

Some seasons are for building.

Trust the work that is happening underground.

Trust the process.

Trust the small steps that nobody else notices.

Keep going.

Roots grow before fruit appears.

The work you're doing in private may be preparing you for something bigger than you can currently see.

Take care of yourself this week - the quiet work matters.

Until next Sunday
